This area is known as Noe Valley. Noe is pronounced as ‘No’-e. This was morning coffee after buying a copy of Sketching San Francisco’s neighborhoods by Eleanor Burke from Phoenix Books (3957 24th Street, Noe Valley).

In June 2012, Starbucks took over the La Boulange chain. When we were in this La Boulange and the one at 2043 Fillmore Street, there was nothing that I saw that indicated that the shops were owned by Starbucks.
Later in August 2013, Phoenix Books, that had been in Noe Valley for 28 years, was put up for sale and closed on Sunday, 20 October. The shop is now under new management and trades as Folio Books.
